Transfer: Victor Moses takes No 11 shirt at new club

Former Super Eagles forward, Victor Moses, has been given a new shirt at Fenerbahce. Moses was allocated his preferred No 11 shirt ahead of the 2019-2020 season. In the second half of last season, the winger wore the No 8 kit following his 18-month loan move from Europa League champions, Chelsea. The Nigerian has now switched shirt number from 8 to 11 and wore the number in pre-season games against Boluspor, Bursaspor, Wolfsburg, Hertha BSC and Bayern Munich. Turkey international, Mehmet Ekici, wore the number 11 for Fernabahce last season. However, he has now taken the number 8 kit while Moses wears the 11. Moses is predominantly a right winger, his preferred jersey number is 11, and he played with the number during his time with the Nigerian national team, Crystal Palace and Wigan Athletic.

BREAKING NEWS: Fuel tanker explodes in Gombe

A fuel tanker has exploded in Tunfure along Gombe-Bauchi expressway, Gombe State, leaving a motorcyclist burnt beyond recognition. As at press time, Channels Television reports that the number of casualties is yet to be ascertained. It added that the men of the fire service are yet to be seen at the scene, but commercial water tankers are currently been used to put out the fire.

Transfer: Brazil winger, Everton Soares confirms offer amid Arsenal link

Gremio winger, Everton Soares has admitted that he has an offer on the table to leave this summer. The Brazilian has been linked strongly with Arsenal, with the Premier League side opening talks over the transfer during the Copa America. Unai Emery is weighing up whether to make an official offer and Everton has now broken his silence on the transfer speculation. “Right now I have an offer on the plate, but I can’t say the name of the club in question. “Just as I cannot promise that I will be here again on Thursday to play against Bahia. We’ll see,” Soares said, according to UOL. It is believed that Gremio want a minimum of £36million for Everton and have indicated they will not open discussions with any club who is unwilling to meet that asking price.

Nigeria vs Algeria: Riot breaks out in France

French police struggled to curtail Algeria football fans on Sunday after their win over Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Egypt. After Algeria scored the winning goal at the final minute, thousands of fans stormed the streets. Riotous incidents were however recorded in Paris, Lyon and Marseille, France24 reports. Marseille, where thousands of Algeria fans watched the match on the Boulevard de la Canebière, was worst hit. According to the police, 282 people were arrested between Sunday night and Monday morning. 50 people were arrested in Paris and 147 in the Lyon area – where dozens of cars were set on fire. Interior Minister, Christophe Castaner reacted to the development on Monday. He hailed the police and firemen for their “speedy reaction and professionalism which contained the violence and to the perpetrators” being apprehended.

Nigeria vs Algeria: Okey Bakassi calls Daniel Akpeyi ‘tokunbo’ goalkeeper [VIDEO]

Nigerian stand-up comedian and actor, Okey Bakassi has blamed Nigerian goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi for the defeat of Super Eagles in the 2019 AFCON Semi-Finals encounter play on Sunday. DAILY POST reports that Algeria defeated Super Eagles 2-1 to advance to the finals of the competition.  The Desert Foxes took the lead in the first half, thanks to a William Troost-Ekong’s own goal. BREAKING: Samson Siasia’s mother, two others kidnapped in Bayelsa

Madam Ogere Siasia, mother of former Super Eagles striker and Coach, Samson Siasia has been abducted by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers. She was kidnapped alongside two other close family members. The other victims whose names were given as Florence Dounana, age 65, and her daughter Selekere Dounana, age 17, are close family members of the Siasias. DAILY POST gathered that the 76-year-old and the two other victims were abducted at about 2am, Monday morning from their family home in Odoni, Sagbama Local Government of Bayelsa State. DAILY POST also learnt that Madam Ogere Siasia, was first kidnapped in November 2015 and her released was secured after 12 days. A close family source confirmed the development to DAILY POST, stating that the incident happened midnight while she was sleeping at her home town. Barcelona announce Griezmann signing

Barcelona have signed Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, the club announced on Friday via its social media channels. The player’s lawyers showed up at LaLiga’s headquarters today, to pay his buy-out clause. The France forwards’ release clause dropped from €200m (£180m) to €120m (£107m) on July 1. Atletico Madrid Chief Executive Officer, Miguel Angel Gil, however, believes Griezmann agreed terms with Barcelona in March when his release clause was still at €200m (£180m). Griezmann has reportedly signed a five-year deal to stay at Camp Nou until 2024.

Polytechnic Ibadan destroys over 1,000 phones of students; gives reason [PHOTOS]

The Management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan on Wednesday destroyed no fewer than one thousand mobile telephones worth over fifteen million naira (N15 million). DAILY POST gathered that the mobile phones were seized from students during various examinations conducted in the institution in the last one year. The phones were seized and subsequently burnt in order to reduce examination malpractices through the use of information and communication technology. The burning of the items was supervised by a senior lecturer and the immediate past Deputy Rector of the Institution, Mr. Bayo Oyeleke. Lecturer calls for ban on special centers to curb exam malpractices

A lecturer at the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, Mr Babatunde Abdulkareem, has called on the Federal government to ban special examination centers in the country as a way to curb examination malpractices. Abdulkareem, who is the Head of Political Science Department in the college, made the call in Ilorin on Wednesday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). He said the number of special centers in the country were increasing everyday, alleging that such centers were known for encouraging cheating during examinations. LAUTECH withdraws ex-student’s certificate over failure to appear before investigate panels

The Senate of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso on Wednesday, said that it has approved the withdrawal of certificate issued to one Oluwanisola Femi Akeju, a graduate of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in the institution. Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Akin, in a statement forwarded to DAILY POST, said Akeju’s certificate was withdrawn due to his refusal to appear before several panels raised to investigate his allegations of victimization against a lecturer in the Department of Pure and Applied Biology of the university. Hijab: Parent raises alarm over alleged molestation of daughter by UI school principal, others [WATCH]

A parent, Dr. Idris Olabode Badiru, on Thursday, raised the alarm over what he termed as molestation and inhuman treatment of his daughter, Ikhlas Badiru, by the Principal of International School, Univerity of Ibadan, Mrs. Phebean Olowe, the School Accountant identified as Mr. Odewale and other staff of the school. BREAKING: FG, States in N25trillion debt – DMO releases data

The Debt Management Office, DMO, has published the Public Debt Data comprising the domestic and external debts of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as at March 31, 2019. The figures were released in a statement on its website on Wednesday. “At ₦24.947 Trillion (US$ 81.274 Billion) as at March 31, 2019, the Total Public Debt grew marginally by 2.30% when compared to the figure of ₦24.387 Trillion (US$ 79.437 Billion) as at December 31, 2018. “The increase of ₦560.009 Billion in the Total Public Debt in Q1 2019, was accounted for largely by Domestic Debt which grew by ₦458.363 Billion. “Increases were recorded in the Domestic Debt Stock of the FGN, States and the FCT. External Debt also increased by ₦101.646 Billion during the same period. “In relation to the Debt Management Strategy, the Ratio of Domestic to External Debt stood at 68.49% to 31.51% at the end of March
